Description of Peñoles activities in favor of social infrastructure in the surrounding communities.

  • Peñoles contributes to the satisfaction of the basic infrastructure needs of the surrounding communities to their operations, with the purpose of increasing their quality of life and promote self-development through shared projects between the government, the community, and the Company.
  • The Mines Division helped the construction and improvement of schools’ infrastructure; moreover it donated school material and computers. Among the supports granted, the suitability to a mobile classroom for Cuitaka kindergarden, in the municipality of Cananea, Sonora stand out; the construction of a court-plaza in the community of Vicente Guerrero, municipality of Cananea, Sonora; and waterproofing of schools in the communities of Naica, Delicias, Chihuahua, and Zacazonapan, State of México. In Bismark, municipality of Ascencion, Chihuahua, we finished the Plaza Bismark, we equipped the high school computer classroom, we waterproofed 400 houses and we inaugurated a soccer field. The Sabinas unit, in Sombrerete, Zacatecas, helped with the 3×1 program in the construction of 4 domes for schools, the construction of the Engineering Laboratory of ITSZO and the paving of the communities of San Martin, La Noria, and San Francisco. The La Francisco I. Madero Unit, municipality of Morelos, Zacatecas, helped with 7,542 m2 of base for asphalt pavement in the community of Francisco I. Madero, besides the drainage and works and improvements in 5 schools in Noria de Gringos, El Maguey, and Francisco I. Madero.
  • The Metal-Chemical Division helped with the improvement of school facilities and parishes in Torreon, Coahuila, and made social and cultural development centers construction and rehabilitation in Torreon, Coahuila, and in Bermejillo, Durango. The donation of cement, paint, garbage bins, work tables, audiovisual and computer equipment stand out, as do the rehabilitation of walls and lighting spaces benefiting 91 schools, 5 religious centers, and 16,236 people. Furthermore, the execution of diverse constructions in Torreon, Coahuila, in the San Jose Diocesan Center, the DIF Communal Development Center, the University Hospital, the Isauro Martinez Theater, the Bermejillo Culture House, the Third Age Adult Center, and the Pro-Empleo Foundation, as well as the construction of the CRIT at Laguna de Durango in Gomez Palacio, Durango stand out. In support of the casualties of the Rio Nazas overflowing in Coahuila we delivered 2,000 blankets, 500 diaper packages, and 1,440 food packages.
  • The Engineering and Construction Division offered different support in the communities where they have projects. In Velardeña, municipality of Cuencame, Durango, Peñoles has contributed in the economic reactivation of the town and also helped with the urban, educative, and sports infrastructure. In 2008 we helped in the construction of Government Office, at the entrance of the community and the high school classrooms aside from donating drainage piping for its rehabilitation.
  • In the Explorations Division we offered construction material to the people of Rey de Plata, municipality of Teloloapan, and Copper King, municipality of Tetatlan, both in Guerrero. There we helped in the electric installation of the Tehuixtla church; and in other activities like the improvement in the sports and school facilities: in the primary school in Ahuehuetla, we waterproofed the roofs; in the high school of Tehuixtla, we fenced with wire mesh, we donated garbage bins and we made cleaning campaigns. Additionally we helped in the construction and improvement of the roads both in Copper King, Guerrero and in Leon, Guanajuato, and Milpillas, municipality of Santa Cruz, in Sonora.
